weekend beautification project!

This weekend was so beautiful! After mowing the yard and weeding the flower bed...we decided we needed some color. We went to Lowes and let the kids pick out some flowers! They all did a great job! Cute watching them pick out all different ones! We came home and started the planting! It was a family effort and the flower bed looks more colorful!

We spent a couple hours at the Dallas Arboretum this morning! It was nice to get out and enjoy the fresh air and nice weather! On Mondays and Tuesdays there are kid activities planned for the little ones! We spent some time singing and dancing with all the kids...had a craft time...and face painting! We saw a princess! The kids thought that was awesome! (she was actually a bride doing photos!) We played in the frontier land in all the little houses! We ate our lunch and headed home! It was another fun day!

Sam didn't get to make his own car this year. He was happy just to be a part of the Frank Pit Crew!

Awana Grand Prix!

We had a great derby day! It was fun to see all the different cars. Everyone worked hard and it showed. Official weigh-in for the cars started at 1pm. Of course Andrew and Abbie wanted to be there the very earliest moment they could. We were among the first in line to get our cars weighed. (The car is not to be over 5oz.) Andrew went first and his car was 5.22oz...then Abbie...her car was 5.32 oz! Needless to say we were sent to the pit-stop to shave some weight! Andrew's was easy and we got his to exactly 5oz the first time. Abbie's took alittle more time but we got it to 4.98oz. They got their picture with their car and participation ribbon...then turned over their cars until the completion of the race.

Each car was raced 4 times and given a total time. Andrew's car came in second on the first run and then took firts place on the last 3 runs! Abbie's car took close second in all 4 runs. Overall the kids didn't place...but to them they still have the best cars! It was a great time cheering on the cars and hanging out with their friends! Already doing the research so that we can have a faster fleet next year!

Abba...my girl!

Last night we went and signed Abba up for Kindergarten! Doesn't seem possible that she is old enough to go to school! As much as I'd love to keep her home forever...she is ready to join Andrew at school! She is very anxious to ride the bus and eat lunch at school! She is precious! I am going to miss my time with her at home ...but looking forward to spending time with my little boys too!

It's Almost Race Day!

Well it is almost race day for Andrew and Abbie! The AWANA Grand Prix is this Sunday at 1pm at our church! Rick and I have been working on derby cars with them for the past couple of weeks! We are all excited that race day is just days away! We will be rooting for #50 Andrew and #32 Abbie! We will update with more pictures after the race!
